| Upon receiving his B.A. in German from U.C. Berkeley in 1967, Tom began working as an analyst at National Security Agency in the Washington D.C. area.
In 1968 he entered the US Air Force and left as a captain in 1973 to pursue a career in the private sector. After 5 years as a manager and regional manager for a national dinner house chain he accepted a management position with Frito-Lay, Inc. In 2000 he retired after 21 years at Frito-Lay having served in various management positions in Manufacturing, Service and Distribution, and Sales Operations.
In 2004 Tom decided to return to the workplace on a seasonal basis. Tax preparation and consulting seemed an ideal seasonal fit for his business background. Attending the Pacific Northwest Tax School and working under the guidance of Jess and April Gutierrez during the 2005 and 2006 tax seasons greatly contributed to his achieving Licensed Tax Consultant status in the minimum possible time. Today Tom greatly enjoys working with and assisting people with their tax returns across all economic levels.
As a Portland area resident for over 30 years Tom brings additional understanding to local and state tax laws and specialized credits customers of Pacific Northwest Tax Service might qualify for. |
