Gretchen Smith is a native Oregonian and grew up in Beaverton. After graduating from Pacific Lutheran University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Biology, she worked for twenty years in healthcare. Gretchen was a founding member of Providence Health & Services Regional Quality Assurance & Training Department, receiving national recognition for her organization model that was implemented by healthcare systems throughout the U.S. She also received several awards for customer service excellence and going the extra mile for patients and their families.
Gretchen made a career change to accounting and received her Post Baccalaureate degree in Accounting from Portland State University. While earning her degree, she volunteered for several seasons with the Cash Oregon/VITA Tax Aid Program preparing personal tax returns for lower income taxpayers and families. Gretchen decided to make tax preparation her primary accounting focus and completed Pacific Northwest Tax School‘s 80-hour Basic Tax Course. She passed the Oregon Tax Board Licensed Tax Preparer Exam in 2022 and joined the Pacific Northwest Tax Service team in 2023. Gretchen loves working with people and using her strong assessment skills to provide a personal and unique experience for each client. She is currently studying for the Enrolled Agent Exam and working on her QuickBooks Online Certification.
Outside of work, Gretchen finds inspiration in nature and enjoys spending time outdoors running, hiking, and gardening.
